CATCHING UP WITH CARTER (8 1/2 months)

Our sweet Carter is just the most precious little boy you'll ever meet.  Here is what he's doing and liking at
8 1/2 months old.
-He hardly ever cries, pretty much only when his teeth hurt or he's trying to crawl and gets frustrated.  He doesn't even cry when he gets an outfit or diaper change.  He just smiles.  (he even likes the cold wipes!)
-Has 4 teeth and more to pop up anytime.
-Doesn't cry when I leave at daycare, but is starting to when I leave the room at home.
-Starting to cry when he hears Caroline cry.  Oh how he loves his sister!!!  She can get him to laugh when nobody else can!!  He loves to jump with her on the big chair.
-Speaking of his laugh:  It is so cute.  It sounds like he's gasping for air, or he just chuckles a little.  We still have to try pretty hard sometimes to get him to laugh.  He usually wiggles when he's excited.
-He's not really talking.  He does say Mama when he cries.  Jeremiah is just jealous and says he wouldn't brag about that.  Haha!!
-We still can't get him to smile for the camera.  That's why he's never smiling in pictures.  I promise, he really is a very happy boy!!  He is so stoic as soon as he sees it.
-He is a pro at sitting up now.  He loves to rock back and forth and he can stay balanced.  He's trying so hard to crawl, but ends up flopping like a fish or moving backwards or in circles.
- He grabs EVERYTHING like his food, my glasses, and the remote.
- Carter loves baths!!
- He eats everything.  He's now eating the chunky stage 3 foods.  His favorite are the sweet potatoes and least favorite are peaches.
- Just started supplementing a little formula to make sure he has plenty of liquids.  I'm not keeping up so great anymore.
- He sleeps really well.  He still cries some when he goes down for the night if he's awake.  Most nights he's so tired he falls asleep while I rock him.  His naps are getting much shorter.  I'm actually glad because his first four months he slept away!!!
-Favorite toys: saucer, jungle, Sophie the giraffe, remote controls
- He's liking peek-a-boo.  When I cover his face, he'll lift his eyes over the towel and smile.
-Carter is starting to give me kisses.  I love that!!!
-He's so cute because he's so calm and quiet, but he'll have these little bouts of screaming.
-It looks like he's going to have blue eyes like his sister.  (who would have thought!!)
WE JUST LOVE THIS LITTLE BOY TO PIECES!!!

WAKING UP

I love waking up to these sweet faces on a cold weekend morning!!

SNEAKY GIRL

Look who found her new Valentine's shirt!!  It was supposed to be opened next weekend.  Oh well,  too late now.  There's no hiding anything from her.

Posing!!

CARTER AND THE LION

Poor Carter is scared of his lion that Santa brought him.  I sat him down by the lion and after he looked at it, he started bawling.  This happened a few nights ago.  Tonight he just looked at the lion and then grabbed me and hugged me and snuggled (which I loved), but didn't cry.  Maybe they'll be friends after all one of these days.

Oh no.  There he is!!

FLASHBACK FRIDAY (Caroline and her animals)

Even though Friday has passed, here is the flashback.  Something today reminded me of how cute it was that Caroline always carried some little animal with her almost everywhere we went.  It's funny because she never made a big deal out of it, somehow she just always had an animal tucked under her arm.  Lots of pictures ahead!!

Sweet bedtime memory

Last night we all got to go to gymnastics to watch Caroline.  I will post some gymnastics pictures soon.  Then we stopped for a bite to eat.  When we got home, Jeremiah watched a webinar on the defense they run.  (I think)  I got to do bedtime myself.  After Caroline got on her pjs and brushed her teeth, and filled Carter's humidifier we sat on the couch and watched American Idol as I rocked sweet Carter.  After he fell asleep I just had to hold him for about 30 minutes and stare at him.  He's so precious!!  I can't believe he's already 8 1/2 months.  Where has the time gone?  After he went to bed, I got to cuddle with Caroline on the couch.  It was past her bedtime, but I had to cuddle with her just a little longer too.  What a spunky, sweet, beautiful little girl she is.  We went to the bedroom, said our prayers, and she never made a peep after I left the room.  I'm so proud of her for falling asleep on her own.  Oh, how happy and blessed I felt as I went to sleep last night!!!

Snow day #3 (Monday)

Wow, another day off of school.  It sounds fun and it is, but I don't want to be making these days up when it's nice outside.  I always think I want to get snowed in, but I think what I mean is to be snowed in for about 2 days and then for it to all be gone and nice and sunny outside!!  Today started out with french toast.  Good thing I'm trying to work out more or I'd be huge from all this french toast!!!  We decided to get out as a family and go to the mall.  This was where the majority of the day was spent.  We got Caroline and Carter dressed up since we've been in pjs for the past few days.  Caroline had one meltdown.  In J. Crew I got on to her for touching all the clothes, then I saw her grabbing a bunch of belts.  She ran out of the store to Jeremiah and told him I was being mean to her.  Then she had her fit/meltdown in front of  Nine West. She's really never had one of those where everyone starts looking at us!!  Good thing it didn't last too long.  Carter didn't fuss one time.  He loved riding around looking at everything!! We were very good.  The only money we spent was on a snack!!!  Then we came home and had dinner and watched the bachelor.  Oh, and no school again tomorrow!!

Caroline's Clean Room!! (for now)

Here are the before and after shots.

A Pajamas Kind of Weekend

Cute babies in their pjs!!!
We started out the weekend with some of Jeremiah's french toast.  Then we just spent the day cooped up inside with all the snow still on the ground.  We just ate and played a lot.  Caroline and Carter played doctor.  We cleaned some too.  (I cleaned, Caroline made messess.  Haha.). Caroline got out her little rocking horse Saturday night and Carter sat on it and rocked.  He loved it.  I'll post a video of it as soon as I figure out how to do so.  Caroline and Carter were both in bed and asleep within minutes.  Yea!!
We were still cooped up on Sunday, so Caroline and I decided to get out and buy some groceries.  (still in our pjs and sweats)  She was so funny in the store.  She kept pointing things out and saying, "Oh mom.  That looks delicious!!"  We got lots of smiles.  On the way out we got stuck in the parking lot.  Not with the car, but with the buggy.  It wasn't so smart to by a cart full of groceries when the parking lot was slush and ice.  When I could no longer push the buggy, I went to the back and pulled it.  Then as I used my whole body to pull, I realized we weren't going to move.  I looked around and we were in a puddle of freezing cold slush with ice all around us.  Just as I was wondering how to get out and Caroline asking what I was doing, a nice man came up to help us.  Thank you!!!
The night ended with some yoga, dinner, baths, and news of school cancellations for Monday!!!

Carter was crying and Caroline made him feel better.

Now he's laughing!

What a good patient!!

He loves his doctor!!

Finally smiles for the camera!
