Snow day #2 (Friday)

We were out of school again yesterday.  We ended up getting around 7 inches of snow by the end of the day.  Luckily the freezing rain turned to sleet in the metro area Thurday, so we didn't lose power.  :)
I woke up to Caroline looking at me.  I asked her what she was looking at and she said your face.  Then I asked why and she replied, "I like your face mom."  What a wonderful way to wake up. Jeremiah and I did some yoga, so I'm a little scared to get out of bed in the morning.  It's been a long time for me!!   Lots of messes were made by you know who.  Caroline and I played out in the snow for all of 30 minutes.  We made some snow angels, ran around, and then came in and took showers and baths, and then sat by the fire to warm up.  We heard an old Deana Carter song on the country music cable station, so I danced with Carter.  He smiled so big the whole time.  Then Caroline came in and joined us and he laughed his little chuckle at her.  He LOVED watching her dance.  (By the way Kelli, this made me think of you!!!)  They must have been worn out because they were both asleep within 10 minutes of laying down.  (all by themselves!!)  What good babies!!

FLASHBACK FRIDAY (Caroline @ 8 months)

Since Carter is almost 81/2 months old, I though I would post some pictures of Caroline around that age.

Caroline obviously liked the camera a little more than Carter does.  She was so precious!! (and still is!!)

Snow day #1 (Thursday)

The day started out with me getting up to get ready for work because there had been nothing on the news the night before.  Then Jeremiah got his call:  no school.  Shortly after I saw my cancellation.  Yea!!  No school for two days, most likely.  We all got at of bed and had Jeremiah's french toast.  It was crazy because there was nothing but the news on all day until Days of Our Lives came on and then the news just shut off.  We just played and Caroline made her many messes.  Papa stopped by for a visit, but he didn't get to see Carter because he was napping.  He brought Caroline 2 suckers of course.  I was glad when he ran out of that giant bag, but it looks like he got some more.  The rest of the day was spent fixing Caroline's hair different ways, eating, and making messes.  Oh, and we figured out where Pickles hid out all day.  You'll see in the pictures.  Now we have to shut Carter's door all the way at bedtime!!!

The Up Weekend

Here's the post that goes with the pictures of my last post.
Friday evening-  I went out with a friend to dinner for a few hours and when I returned, Caroline, Carter, and Jeremiah were watching the movie Up.  I guess this was the 2nd time watching it.  After they went to bed, Jeremiah and I stayed up to watch a movie.  It was terrible.  I'm embarrassed to say what it was, it was so crazy!!  Ok.  It was Bruno.  Wow is all I can say about it!!!
Saturday- We got up and Jeremiah went to get breakfast from McDonalds (not so healthy), but he loves to have breakfast together on the weekends.  Caroline at all her pancakes!!  All 3 of them.  She said she would not eat the hambonger though!!  (the sausage patty)  After Carter went down for his nap.  Jeremiah, Caroline, and I cuddeled on the couch to watch Up.  After about 10 minutes it made me cry and Caroline look at me and asked if she could wipe my tear.  AWW!!!  What a great way to spend the day.  Up was a wonderful movie.  It must of  been to keep Caroline watching the whole time.  Maybe she'll be ready one of these days to go to the real movies!!  The rest of the day was spent playing and doing TONS of laundry.
Sunday- I brought in Sunday morning by being up late setting up the blog.  Then at 1:15 am it sounded like a train coming toward the house, then a boom and the room shook and rattled for about 6 or 7 seconds.  It was so scary.  This was the 2nd earthquake I've felt, but the first one was nothing like this.  I couldn't go back to sleep.  Jeremiah woke up, but it didn't seem to phase Carter and Caroline.  Yea!!
When everyone woke up Sunday morning we put in Up again and had some of Jeremiah's french toast and coffee.  Yummy!!!  I did more laundry and Caroline made more messes.  At about 6pm, we headed to Papa's and Nanno's for Joy's birthday.  Poor Carter cried all the way there because his teeth hurt.  That's about the only time our sweet boy gets really upset!!  After the party we stayed and watched the Vikings get beat and Carter's teeth started to hurt again, so there must be another coming soon.  His are just coming in one right after the other.  Caroline's seemed like they were really spaced out.  Teething really never bothered her.
The Weekend Highlight would have to be seeing Caroline playing with Carter more than I have ever seen.  She played with him, wanted him to sit by her at the table, and even wanted to take a bath with him!!! (her idea)   The past 8 months she has pretty much ignored him most of the time.  I know she loves him, but it's going to take some time for her to get used to not being the only one getting attention.  I also love our movie time, just to sit still and snuggle!!!

Ugh!! Work vent

Today wasn't such a great day at work.  We had what I guess you would call a "come to Jesus meeting" with all the kids today.  It seems that all of us (teachers) have had it with the attitudes of our students.  There are days that I really do like what I do, but the other side of it brings many difficult days.  It's so hard wanting to help these students but not being able to get through to them.  They will never be able to respect others until they learn to respect themselves.  I won't get into all the details, but let's just say that their actions show they have no respect for themselves and it's just sickening to see everyday and to try so hard to help, but feel powerless to do so.  Anyway, when I got home with my sweet babies and husband, I realized that they are the main reason I go through that everyday so I can help provide us with a good life.  As we sat down for dinner, we listened to Caroline act silly and talk about her friends and watched Carter rock back and forth smiling in his saucer.  What a joy these babies are.  Oops.  Caroline got me in trouble for putting her in that category the other day.  After dinner, they took a bath.  Caroline kept her arm around Carter and washed him off for me.  She's making progress.  She won't admit it, but she's starting to enjoy her brother!!  After a few times of walking her back to her room, Caroline went to sleep by herself.  What a big girl!!!  We started this last week.  Some nights go smoother than others, but she's doing great!!  Carter is still crying himself to sleep most nights, but tonight it just lasted 15-20 minutes.  We're making progress with bedtime!!  ( I hope).
Like I said, I'll try not to talk about work too much, especially the negatives, but today was just one of those days.  Like we told the kids, tomorrow is a new day to make a new start with whatever you choose to.  Thank you Jeremiah, Caroline, and Carter for making me feel better!!!

WELCOME TO MY BLOG!!

Well.  Here it goes.  Here is my first official post!!  I feel a little silly writing about our life, but I have 2 reasons for doing this:
1. To keep our family and friends up to date on all our happenings, and mostly
2. To have a journal of our life together as a family to someday show Caroline and Carter.
Hopefully they will never have to doubt how much they are loved.  They may just end up realizing what a crazy mother they have, but that's ok.  Haha!!
I plan on Sundays being the Weekend Wrap-up and Fridays will be called Flashback Friday.  Fridays will mostly be old Caroline pictures and stories because I didn't start this while she was a baby.  I will try to keep work stuff to a minimum, but it's a huge part of my life and thoughts, so I know it will come up.  Wow.  I could have made a lot of money if I would have started writing from the day I started teaching 12 1/2 years ago!!!
Also, I don't really know all the rules of blogging, so if I do anything wrong in the "blogging world", please let me know.
